Quietly she worked slowly and carefully as the music played from the next room. Enjoying this, unaware subtle observations were arriving. As a child, if she thought about it, many times she didn't feel or notice her femininity. She was often one of the boys, and at times it even seemed expected to behave as one. Yet other times, with much confusion or no warning, it seemed directed or imposed to switch abruptly and represent a young girl. This confusion was all too often frustrating and she often felt defiant and rebellious that she didn't get to decide. Eventually, it was better to be seen as strong over being "girly".

But the gentle insistence and call to use pink was too compelling today. And bubbles of curiosity and strange enjoyment kept rising. It was vast years of not regarding things such as this. Softness, vulnerability, delicate... these things were maybe somehow under subtle judgement that "girly" was not equal to or as valued as "hard work" and "strength though adversity." However, the soft pastel hue spread and formed delicate tenderness and she was touched. It felt strange and maybe awkward to her at first, but gradually it grew on her. "It is not just ok to be feminine, it is very much enjoyable."

Inspiration: Noting I had a perception of "girly" and despite a perspective from life, I felt drawn to try the colors because I was fascinated with what would happen on the canvas. Little did I realize, I would find something change within myself.
