Workshop photo Underpainting study with wipe out technique by Tinker 2003. This underpainting technique was part of a Frank Covino workshop in which alternative techniques were taught. As oppose to painting an Italian underpainting a Venetian technique was used by the removal of a tinted gesso and paint.
Fundraiser commission (4th completed piece): $7,000 donation for custom portrait in realism oils 2006. Custom auction piece for Red River Hospital wing in Fargo ND. Completed in 150 manhours with consult/ live session/ reference material.
First commission by Tinker (2003) Second completed painting Artist: Age 23 Completed in 100 manhours for private collector valued at $9000. Inspiration: Capturing Kipchak culture and heritage, Tinker completed the commission with a consultation, short live sitting to match skin tones and reference material.
Original art by Tinker 2004-2005. (3rd completed piece.) Study: Original message Student: Age 24 Experience: Self studies, 200+ hours logged under the Master. Completion: 100 manhours Title and inspiration "Ecclesiastes 12" and local and world events inspired this piece. Being only his 3rd completed piece, Tinker saw a moment to capture emotion and emergency workers after 911. Locally a benefit for a public servant was occurring as well in which the piece participated. After which a global competition accepted into submission.
Tinkers first painting: Self portrait 1997-98. No painting experience. Age 18 Yes, this was a first painting. Though drawing skills and aptitudes were present, Tinker was given scholarship to participate in a mastery class open to all levels where he discovered the legacy of Frank Covino. This first piece along with all other pieces and students works are exhibited here to announce and carry a vision and declaration. Covino's legacy PROVED that anyone is capable of this mastery. For decades students of all levels produced works in workshops around the nation even without ever having any experience. If there is passion and willingness...
